This specification includes requirements for an asphaltic seal coat including aggregate (3/8”, 1/4” or sand).
It specifies a CRS-2 emulsified asphalt binder as well as AASHTO methods for the crushed stone or sand aggregate. It includes three options for types of aggregate and requirements for the nature and condition of the aggregate. It also includes requirements for the condition of the pavement for placement and the method and manner of placement including application rates. This specification requires that the seal coat aggregate is applied to the pavement after the asphaltic binder material has been sprayed.
