This specification includes requirements for a sand seal coat on an asphalt pavement. It references an ASTM test as well as minimum material properties that must be met for approvals. It includes two options for types of aggregate (sand) and requirements for the nature and condition of the sand. It requires the contractor to provide three references with names, addresses, dates and contacts for the evaluation of the owner to determine past performance. It also includes requirements for the condition of the pavement for placement and the method and manner of placement including application rates.
